DESCRIPTION:
A two-day Cold War based mil-sim scenario game. Benefiting the charity Disabled American Veterans (for more information, visit www.dav.org)
SCENARIO:
1990:The Iron Curtain is crumbling, it is time to act. Freed from the chains of communist bondage, nationalists rise to take back what the socialists have taken from them, their nation; their identity. The fall of communism across Eastern Europe has lead to civil unrest and uprisings in several nations in the volatile Balkan region. Nationalist demonstrations have turned into all out revolutions as the socialist regimes attempted to call on the army to quell the uprisings. The armies, who were first called to crush this opposition, have now sided with the revolutionaries and have turned against the socialist regimes. Now, nationalists paramilitaries, calling themselves "Haiducs" (Outlawed patriots), have virtually wiped out anyone and anything representing socialism. Fearing the nationalists could be more violent and totalitarian than their predecessors, the western nations and the United States have given their support to a group of moderate socialists in one nation where they have made a stand against the Haiducs by declaring their own separate republic. In recent weeks the break away republic has been the scene of fierce fighting but the United Nations, backed up by the United States' pledge to offer military intervention to the socialist republic, has pressured the nationalists into a cease fire. It is only a matter of time until a local nationalist commander takes foreign policy into his own hands and clears his homeland of the socialist threat.
